FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A new buzzword is in town. Wellbeing is now used for EAP (employee assistant programs), for student support services and for psychological therapy. But what is wellbeing? The WHO defines it as a state that is more than the absence of disease or infirmity, but a life that encompasses being well, in our physical, our mental and our social realms. Although the topics you hear are real, you do not see or hear a real client. The videos are here to illustrate my therapeutic style, so that you know what to expect.
Some professions are accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and psychology is one of them. My doctorate in counselling psychology leads to this accreditation. Within this framework, I have undertaken a research study, given over 450 hours of supervised therapy (individual and group), written academically, mentored new trainees and fulfilled all standards of proficiency (SOP) required by the HCPC. In my work, I hold myself accountable to these standards. At the moment I am waiting for the HCPC accreditation, the last stage of this doctoral pathway.
BACP stands for the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
As a BACP member, I work t work in accordance with the Ethical Framework.
I have committed to comply with and reference this framework in my professional conduct and decision making.
An ethical concern, in therapy, is confidentiality. It exists to respect and protect your right to privacy. In other words, what we discuss cannot be disclosed to anyone without your informed consent. Some limitations exist, which I want to share transparently here. Firstly, should your life or the life of somebody else be in danger I will need to seek help to keep you or the other person safe. This process will be discussed with you. It’s important to understand that sharing suicidal thoughts does not trigger this safeguarding pathway automatically. Secondly, under the Terrorism Act 2000, it would be a criminal offence to conceal information which would prevent an act of terrorism or the arrest, prosecution or conviction of someone involved who is "the commission, preparation or instigation of an act of terrorism".
In our first session we will discuss confidentiality; please feel free to think of any questions that you would like to have answered.
We have a two working days cancellation policy.
Von Lerse Ltd reserves the right to bill the client for a missed session but will attempt in good faith to reschedule the cancelled meeting.
